Look, I’ve been replacing roofs in this part of the Hill Country for over twenty years, and if there’s one thing I can tell you about Tivoli, it’s that we’re sitting right in the bullseye for some of the nastiest spring weather in Texas. It’s not just the size that gets you, though—it’s the fact that the hail comes in sideways with that wind, so it’s hammering your shingles at an angle instead of straight down. That tears up the granules and leaves little divots that you can’t even see from the ground, but they’re just waiting to turn into leaks come August. And since Tivoli sits in that low, flat basin between the river bottoms and the coastal plains, the storms tend to stall right over us, dropping hail for twenty or thirty minutes instead of just a quick pass.
