I’ve pulled golf-ball and even baseball-sized stones off of driveways out here, and when those come down at a slant with a 60-mile-an-hour wind behind them, they don’t just dent your gutters—they bruise the shingles, crack the fiberglass mat, and knock the granules clean off. That damage isn’t always obvious from the ground, either. You might see a few missing tabs, but the real problem is the hidden bruising that weakens the whole roof, so by the time fall rolls around and we get those secondary wind events, you’re looking at leaks you didn’t even know were coming. The storm season really ramps up from April through June, but we’ve seen rogue hail in October, too, so honestly, if you’ve been through a couple of rough springs without a roof inspection, you’re playing with fire.
