Look, I’ve been replacing roofs up here in Haskell County for over twenty years, and Rule is a special case when it comes to hail. That wind doesn’t just blow over—it whips around the eaves and gets underneath the shingle tabs, lifting them up just enough for the hail to hammer the exposed nail heads and underlayment. And it’s not just a one-time thing; we get these severe outbreaks multiple times a season, sometimes two or three big ones in a single May. The older homes in town with that 3-tab shingle from the 90s are especially vulnerable, but even newer architectural shingles take a beating because the hail impacts are so frequent and intense. You can patch one storm, but the next one always finds the weak spot, and that’s why I tell folks here that roof replacement isn’t a matter of if, but when.
