Look, I’ve been roofing here for over twenty years, and I can tell you straight—Gruver sits right in the heart of what we call “Hail Alley,” and it’s not just a catchy name. We’re out on the high plains, flat as a pancake with nothing but open fields for miles. When those spring and early summer storms roll in off the Rockies, they don’t have any hills or trees to break them up. Plus, the way our town is laid out, with those big open lots and no natural windbreaks, the gusts funnel right down the streets and hit your roof at full force. I’ve seen roofs that looked fine from the ground, but once I got up there, the hail had knocked the granules off so bad the fiberglass mat was showing, and the wind had lifted the corners of every tab. It’s a one-two punch that just beats the living daylights out of a roof, and if you don’t catch it early, that’s when the real water damage starts.
