That collision creates those towering, angry cumulonimbus clouds that drop hail the size of golf balls—sometimes bigger—right along the I-75 corridor. The problem is, our homes here in Cisco often have that architectural asphalt shingle, which is great for looks but has a thinner mat than the old three-tab stuff. When a hailstone hits at an angle, especially with that wind behind it, it doesn’t just dent the shingle—it bruises the fiberglass mat underneath, which you can’t even see from the ground. That bruise weakens the whole system, and a year later, that’s where you get the granule loss and the curling.
