What makes it worse here is the lay of the land. Big Wells is flat, wide-open ranch country, so there’s not a hill or a tree line to break up that wind. Plus, the heat down here is brutal in July and August, baking those shingles until they’re brittle and cracked, so by the time the first fall storm hits in September or October, they’re already weak.
